Mrs. Jo Ann Lee has more than 20 years of experience teaching English in both public and private sectors. She was awarded a MOE scholarship after her A levels and she taught at a public school for seven years.

Secondary English Specialist

As a testament to her ability, she was made Subject Head of the English Language department by her third year in service and by the time she left service, she was the Acting Head of Department.

On top of her professional abilities that allowed her to head the department, she was also a well-liked and an engaging teacher who received consecutive Caring Teacher Awards awarded at a national level.

After she left public service, she joined two premium enrichment centres in Singapore where she learnt in meaningful depth more about curriculum development and the demands of private education.

At the enrichment centre, she was also the lead curriculum writer and anchored the secondary level programme by serving as a mentor to the other teachers. Most of her students follow her from Year 1 to 4.

Mrs. Lee believes that skills and techniques can and have to be taught on top of relevant content so that students can handle the various components of the O level paper effectively. She also enjoys using headlines and current affairs in her teaching.  She also works closely with students’ parents to ensure that they are updated of their children’s progress.

Mrs. Lee constantly upgrades her skills, the last being a 10 week writing course with The Writers’ Academy based in London.

In her free time, Mrs. Lee arranges flowers, re-homes abandoned dogs, reads, travels and spends time with her three dogs whom she affectionately calls her ‘golden potatoes’.
